Of course you would like to fire them. That's all you know. You would rather throw away a problem rather than fixing it. It's the lazy way out. I knew a lady who once burned her whole house down with a match because she suspected a mouse was in the basement. There is no such thing as "carrying your own load" on the police department. You get a run. You make the run. Nobody can truly come to work and do nothing. How long do you think that would last when a citizen calls back and say an officer didn't show up or do nothing when they did? If you make and handle your runs you are satisfying what is asked of you. Not doing anything extra has no effect on anyone else. You just have a warped view of what you define as a police officer. You are at high risk of professional burnout.
