If someone gets in a jam and they're popular with the command and other officers, the problem usually gets swept under the rug. If they're somebody who has made some enemies at the top, then they take the opportunity to suspend or fire them. If they've only made enemies among the officers, then the gossip and libel begins. That's how things have always worked. Its a big popularity contest reminiscent of a 5th grade class of mentally challenged kids with schoolteachers who sleep with each others spouses. Hypocrisy is my least favorite sin.
