Sure you can go in. If someone gets a residential security alarm system and it is set up to call 911, they would expect you to invesigate their home. A door ajar would indicate that a burglary is taking place and/or the homeowner is in trouble. If you enter to clear the residence, just make sure to continue yelling "Metro Police we have an alarm" and only look where a person could hide. As you go through the residence you will quickly know if a burglary has occurred. If everything looks in order, I wouldn't start opening closets and stuff. I would do a quick walk through and see about securing the residence, and have Radio attempt to contact a key holder. It wouldn't hurt to leave the Alarm Brochure and write in the notes how you secured the residence...But the other advise is good too, if don't know don't go.

I really hope the person who asked this question in not a cop . You will have a longgggggg, stressful, nervous career! Just go in, do a sweep of the house. Nothing found...secure the door and 10-8.
