Do you not think that some of these so-called non-working members of society dont wish that they could get off this crap and get a job? Most addicts want to quit and want the resources to quit, but a real-deal inpatient treatment facility costs about 10,000.00. And before you say 'well there are places they can go for free' I will agree with you, there are. But there is'nt an outpatient program or class that a heroin addict can go to and truly get clean. For every prison we build, there needs to be (3) inpatient treatment facilities built. Sure there will be costs up front but if we can treat this disease (and yes it is a disease) then we can get these addicts clean and back into the workforce. We will also lessen the client base for the actual traffickers and also free up prison space for those more deserving to be there instead of the "ride down and walk out" system we now have for these dirtbag traffickers. MTCW.....

You have to want to quit the addiction before it is cured. No need to spend thousands of dollars for treatment then go right back to the drug. I had an addiction and I quit it on my own. I quit running around my friends who also had a problem & I started going to bed early. That's how I beat it.
