Indianapolis police shootings highlight balance between safety, cost

Most of Kentucky has nothing but 2-lane roads and small departments that don't hire you unless you have family ties or know somebody very well. When they decide they want to get rid of you, they just show you the door and you're gone. There is usually no recourse, especially if you work for a Sheriff.

LMPD has a strong flavor of Kentucky politics at the top, and that's gotten worse in the last 10 years, but it's still not as bad as the tiny departments where even the Sergeant is just a political appointee.
