Kentucky Law does not say that!

KRS 527.100Possession of handgun by minor.

(1)

"A person is guilty of possession of a handgun by a minor when, being under the age of eighteen (18) years, he possesses, manufactures, or transports a handgun as defined by KRS 527.010"

Granted federal law does not allow the selling of a handgun to someone under 21 from a FFL, but there is nothing in KRS or Federal Law that says a 18 year cannot posess a handgun. Also, He was charged with Possesion of a Weapon on School Property, which says right in the statue if you are 18 or above you can have one in your car.

He had a RIFLE, not a pistol. Perfectly legal for him to own it. (For that matter, he could own a pistol, too - the law only prohibits an under 21 from purchasing a pistol, not from owning one.)
