If the department cannot adequately staff the streets and details they are forced to secure without constantly rearranging officers off day rotations, denying or cancelling vacation time, or without raping investigative units of all their manpower then I’d say it’s safe to say we are short on patrol officers. But, that’s just me. BTW - we keep hiring and still cannot keep up with the rate that we are losing officers.
