Im so sick of hearing about how if your a police officer in the east end(the panera and starbucks neighborhoods)you dont know how to police. These days there is plenty of work to do in the eastend. Bottom line is if your a good cop it doesnt matter where your a officer at. Ive worked in both areas and its the same job, just the westend is busier. When i moved from the urban districts to the suburban one it was a culture shock. In the urban districts back up is only a couple blocks away, but in the county back up can be ten to fifteen minutes away code 3. I cant tell you how many domestics and trouble runs Ive made by myself because back up was either tied up or far away. There are positives and negatives to working both ends of town. Besides the days of pro active policing are just about over. Whats going on in New York will eventually trickle down here and you wont be able to anything other than make your runs. Guys the best advice this old officer can give you is work smarter not harder. Always try to do your best for real victims of crime, and the lastly these dirt bags are not worth your life or your career. Stay safe.
