I would have no concerns about any larerals with similar training from anywhere in the country. People say we will get a depts bad apples.. BLAHHHHH to that. We have more bad apple recruits so JUST HIRE LATERALS The city wants to hire a new recruit at lower starting pay and dont want to pay laterals at say 5 years pay. I promise even if LMPD said to all new laterals... we will hire you at new officer pay and put u in a 4 week academy and 4 week FTO phase THEY WOULD COME!!!

If you think the law is only the KRS, maybe that is the problem. Search and Seizure, Interrogation, Use of Force, Trial Procedure, all important. Does no good to catch the bad guys if they walk in court, and worse yet, if they turn around and sue you (and the city) for your transgressions against them. Remember, Louisville paid out almost four million bucks because detectives didn't know how to do a proper suspect identification procedure - locking up the wrong guy (and letting the right run free and continue to commit crimes). (No question but that he was the wrong guy, he didn't even come close to matching the description given by multiple victims - for example, they all said he was clean shaven, so three days later, the arrest a guy with a big bushy beard?) How does that benefit anyone? Just read the case law, KPS lose cases regularly, for silly reasons.
