You are always better off having your own lawyer even if your employer provides one. The county attorney is also the prosecutor, so after you spill your guts to "your lawyer" they may decide to prosecute you or tell someone else to do so. There is no way they can ensure attorney-client privilege for your communications with their office. If you have a private lawyer, then everything is covered by attorney-client privilege. Private lawyers are very often better skilled and know the law a lot better
