How true this is. Now we hear about an ambush with LAPD with officers being shot inside the station house. This is getting bad. Wear your vest and ALWAYS keep your gun close enough to use when needed. Be aware of who is around you even if you are not in uniform. Just because your not on the job does not mean someone doesn't recognize you and wants to do harm to you.

I completely understand the emotion behind it, but does killing a police dog in the line of duty REALLY count as killing an officer in the line of duty? I'm not necessarily opposed to it, but I could definately see how a jury would have problems convicting someone with any crime other than Cruelty to Animals for such crime. Killing is dog will never be the same as killing a human being.

Louisville is no more dangerous for officers today than it was in the past. There were 2 Louisville officers killed the last 20 years. In the 20 years before that there were 13 killed. Don't think the streets were any safer just because you were licking ice cream cones while riding your big wheels back then.
