That's because their longevity blo(w)s. I'm glad they got it but no other job classification has longevity as good as Metro Police. Police get a 38% longevity raise by year 10 and a 58% longevity raise by year 25. Fire tops out at $3 an hour longevity raise by year 25. Not a lot. Add 40% and they are doing better, but no where close to what the police get. 40% sounds like a big deal, but 40% of $3 isn't much to scream about.
