OK, so that would just divide the dispatchers - so that if you need police, fire and EMS - they would be located in THREE DIFFERENT PLACES. I remember what it was like having with the dispatchers having to frantically call all over, the fire dispatchers working 24/48 shifts, etc. Why do you think it is somehow "better" for them to work for the police department? The radio backbone has to be under one umbrella - otherwise you end up paying for multiple systems rather than just one.
