If you vote this down, you will get your but handed to you in arbitration. Do you really think you would get a better deal? Seriously! Have really considered what an outside arbitrator would think of our salaries, benefits, take home cars and health insurance. If you want to lose any of that, vote this contract down. Ingrates need to get over themselves. Go try the private sector if you have it so bad. And then, grow up.

We have no idea how badly Slick Willy Obama has screwed the American people with his Affordable Care Tax. Sorry, care act. Take this contract or you may lose most of your paycheck to another plan. Do you really think the city does not know this.

I think you misunderstand the post. I don't mean for this contract but for any contract, why does the city get to have the final say? No need to be rude here, just asking a question. If the FOP membership were to vote it down, why does the city get to say "final offer" and we have to take it? My point is this, if the city says you have to take this then what is the point if the membership doesn't have a say in it? I know you said this is after 2 years of negotiations but it is the first time the membership gets to vote on it. And since the members were told absolutely nothing during the negotiations it seems to me that this is all a joke and the members don't really have a say at all if after the first vote they are told to take it or leave it. A lot of officers I have talked to do not want the v time taken from them to pay for a full time president, that alone is a red flag to me that hardly anyone heard of this until it was shown to the members. If you want my opinion I say take it, vote yes, but I think it was dead wrong to have the full time FOP prez put in there, especially since we PAY DUES ALREADY!!!!!!

It is amazing how so many people seem so shocked and surprised at the details of this process. If you guys /gals would have been coming to meetings or keeping up with the issues over the past 2 years then you wouldn't have to be playing catch up at the last minute. I can see if you are never involved in the FOP that you would have no idea what all they do for us, how they offer us protection and a collective voice, and that you would wonder why we need a full time president. Also, the rules of the contract process and the goals of the negotiation committee were on the table along time ago. Unfortunately we have a department that has maybe 4% of its membership show up at any given meeting to participate in all this. I agree, the process from here on out is BS. This vote is reality more ceremonial in my opinion. Ultimately we voted for Dave (who ran as a president who would be negotiating this contract). Dave and the committee did their best on our behalf and here we are. This is what they did and it is the best that could be done.

Vote yes.

This contract offers you a raise and awesome insurance.

Most of us literally cannot afford the alternative that the city would offer next.

God Bless and stay safe.
