And while I agree that there are crazy spending from the city and some of the hiring but most of the stupid spending is a one time cost where a 4% raise for 1200 cops, 450 firemen, 300 EMS is a forever incurring cost.....then another 4% on top of the previous 4% and so on for the life of a contract.....If you think this is a bad contract you are in LALA land. I think this is the best contract offer I have seen in nearly 26 years.... Jerry Abramson would have never let the FOP walk out with this offer so if you think an offer will get better you are crazy... I usually am a stickler for contracts probably because of Jerry Abramson but YOU WILL NOT GET A BETTER OFFER THAN THIS. it is extremely fair given the state of the world, country, state and city in this day and age. Ask Cincy and Indy and Detriot and countless other depts who are laying off hundreds. The city tried like hell to get the no layoff clause removed. I will venture to say they will start not hiring classes as to backdoor the no lay off clause even though we are always 80-100 short... maybe that will increase to 200-300 short....
