You guys don't understand how the system and law works. There is no "renegotiation". They don't get to go back to the same table. They have spent nearly two years at that table trading counter offers to get to this. The true negotiation is over, hence why we are being presented a contract. Here is how it realistically works in a nut shell:

They negotiate and agree on a potential contract (where we are now).

We vote. If we say yes, we get what is in the contract.

If we say no, a BS procedural ceremony begins that has no binding legitimate significance that basically ends up with the city unilaterally deciding EVERYTHING and give it back to us.

At that point we can b i tch and moan but there will be no effective means to do anything about it.

They have no incentive to make it better for us.

Our choice is to take what we have in front of us now or take something much worse later.

In my opinion we have a pretty decent offer considering we live in an unfortunate world that loves to hate on us and thinks we already have too much. We get to keep our healthcare, get a raise and an increase in court pay, and additional working condition benefits. I can't think of anything that really got any worse.

It doesn't work that way. I got the roll call speech and then looked it up myself. If we turn this down it is all off the table and Metro can offer less. Then a "fact finder" gives an opinion that doesn't mean crap. In the end Metro can give an offer less than this and it gets put in place. It would suck if we turned down great health care and raises for 6 years and ended up with crap.
