There is NOTHING coercive about saying "thanks for coming to the office, you are not under arrest and are free to leave now or at any time" . So tell me about this burglary, robbery, shooting, sexual assault. They confess and you say Thanks for coming down and have a good day, I will be in touch. Take a warrant and arrest them the next day or two.
