Here's why it could matter, cause the policemen like me who've been around 25 plus years have found out that most, not all, but most of these college boys still think they live the college life. That they think life is still a party at the dorm, all they have to do is pass the class, even if its by other means not talked about, just get the degree and everything will be handed to you. Wrong. These are the types who have no real life skills, who are taught that a degree makes you better than everybody else, gives you the right to judge and look down on those who dont have a degree or went to college. Its a sense of entitlement that most college degree waving people have. In my experience it seems to me that the worst ones always turn out to have the degree. The guys, and girls, who have had to work instead of go to school seem to handle things better because they have the real life experiences to deal with things. College just seems to take away common sense and mislead young people away from the things that are important. Like I said most, not all, so don't be offended. This is my view from a different generation. Chances are we would'nt agree on much anyway.

My open ended comment was directed at the staff that feels that a college degree means more than real world experience. It was not directed at anyone with a degree. In fact, I have a masters and when I retired I quickly found a job. I was hored with just a college degree amd i felt i had a pretty succesful career. But as another reply in this chain pointed out the younger generation feels that they know better than a common man. I feel that you getting so upset clearly points out that fact. One thing I realized throughout my career was that the most highly educated people with the least amount of experience promoted faster. This department is now run by those people and it certainly appears that the ship is going down. I will always support my brothers in blue but honor and integrity must be first and foremost. Develop your skills and education for what you plan to do when you retire.
