Real impact of local violence: LMPD chief speaks out

I strongly suggest caution on how criminal activity data is collected and interpreted against certain screening criteria. There are lies, damn lies, and statistical lies.

If beat officers and supervisors know the survey criteria than it can be twisted or reflected in corrupt ways when reported. Most people want their data and beat results to be great in order to rerceive awards and promotions. I hope there is a honest big brother enforcing standards from outside the department. We have recently seen some bad police work in the news of officers not reporting and following LMPD SOP's. I hope this will not get ugly over time.
