We have lost a whole generation, maybe two. The police are not the answer, they are a small part of the solution. It all starts with the family, but these days there is no sign of the family unit in our society anymore. The media and countless other influences are raising the majority of kids these days. It does NOT take a village to raise a child as most of the liberals say these days, it takes a solid mom and dad in the home teaching right and wrong and telling kids they are loved and cared for. Teaching them to be responsible for what they do, and what and what not to do. Then the citizens must realize that the police are not the enemy, that the police are more successful when they have a good citizen base that works with them and not against them. Then the court system must do their job and properly apply the law to convict the criminal element, regardless of how serious the crime. Then the prison system must do their part by placing the punishment the right way by not making it like a country club for these criminals, some of who do not mind going if they have to because they know they wont be there long or it will be just a time for them to bulk up, get healthy and think about how to be a better criminal. Conrad is right , we cannot arrest our way out, but will any of the other contributing problems ever change?
