Real impact of local violence: LMPD chief speaks out

The court system has failed Jefferson County, period!! Until the county adopts a zero tolerance attitude towards gun violence in sentencing, the violence will get worse. This is beyond the Chief's control. Most officers know someone who is walking the streets who has shot someone less than 5 years ago. Disgusting!!!!

I've always felt until children are raised to feel loved, worthy and important, this cycle will never stop. The people that have no problem pulling a trigger on another human being have been raised to feel like a piece of @#$%. They feel worthless. They don't care about themselves....why would they care about anyone else? They were once babies with a fresh start. Somewhere along the line nobody cared about them. That's the sad part. The scary part is the good guys out there trying to protect the innocent and not knowing when they're going to encounter one of these bad guys. To choose a career in law enforcement is so admirable and noble. I pray for your safety every day. Thank you so much for all you do. It means the difference between life and death. You should all be so proud of what you do and who you are.

Conrad, "We cant arrest our way out of the situation". Then what is VIPER for? The unit has arrested and confiscated over 100 firearms.

I applaud VIPER for the impact they are placing on these thugs lives. They need some much needed love from the Police. But, we are still arresting our way out of situations.

Can we reform these good citizens by giving their voting rights back? LOL. We as a society/taxpayers are already paying their rent, free education, food, vehicle maintenance and much, much more. We keep giving and they keep taking. Lock their A## up and throw away the key so the rest of us can live safe and peacefully.

Blah, Blah, Blah

Chief is a good guy, gotta say that, is a good person. Just sounds like a liberal approach where we spend taxpayer money enabling a lot of people of all races - white, black, hispanic whatever by spending your money on giving them an excuse. When it boils down to taking responsibility for your actions - people choose to do drugs, be alcoholics, rob people, break-into your houses. Crime being down last year doesn't mean anything, just that was less than the year before.

The guy who made this video is an optimist. Thank the 47% of people demanding government hand-outs instead of working a real job.
