They would only need about 10 people for a full-time time. Everyone else could remain part-time. There are 10 officers in administrative, support, PSU, Inspections, or who are detailed who could be sent back to the street to replace the SWAT team members. Not everyone doing a good job is in a job worth doing.

Then by all means, point out the benefits of full-time SWAT.

I'm not being a smart*ss...just asking. Are there actually instances where any officer(s) on the street need/request SWAT and are actually being turned down because they're "not available"?

Even with a full time unit, wouldn't there still be just as much mobilization time involved to get the equipment and respond to a command post, just as is done now?

Or do you seriously think a full time SWAT team would just ride around in the BEAR in full tac-gear waiting for someone to call them?

The point is this: a few are saying how beneficial it would be...but the question is beneficial to whom? Maybe to those assigned to the full time team...I'll give you that one, it'd be a pretty good assignment. But I fail to see where there'd be any huge benefit to the masses by making a full time team.

From the way it looks, the Viper Unit got themselves involved in something that SWAT had to bail them out of. Sit down lil Vipey. Let the big dogs do this!
