I am not a cop but a taxpaying citizen and this argument is ridiculous. Cops are taxpayers (and most probably in a higher bracket than you and therefore paying more in taxes) so you very effectively make the argument FOR them that THEY pay for cars that THEY drive.

Good job, genius.

Maybe I'll just drive in circles on the interstate all day while I'm working and keep the pumps a pumpin. I can easily go through two tanks in one shift for no reason at all. Vote for Pedro!!!!!!
