yes and it also legal for someone to watch the police work a crime scene as long as they are not in the way. i was at the murder scene in newburg about a month ago and some nitwit police officer tried to make me leave the area although i was across the street from the scene. i told the dumb officer i have a constitutional right to stand on the sidewalk and as he walked away i knew he felt both stupid and defeated. LMPD has miles to go in the area of civil rights
