Reorganization coming within Metro Police Department |
RE: Reorganization coming within Metro Police Department
I agree with your general sentiment. If you see someone parking in the lot without an FOP tag issued by Lodge 614 then identify them and if they are not a member of Lodge 614 then tell them to park elsewhere. However, you are not correct on one point and I disagree on another. The FOP does not own that lot. The FOP (per contract) rents that lot for $1 a year. Secondly, officers need a place to park quickly and get to court on time. I love my brothers in other jobs, but the idea of the lot is for court parking for LMPD. Between 0800 and 1400, there should be no corrections officers or deputies parking there. They drive to work every day and should have a place designated to park by their workplace. If not, then they should make time to park in the garage. The mid watch officer or late watch officer trying not to get gigged for being late to court should not have to spend 15 minutes circling the garage because spots are taken by deputies, corrections officers, prosecutors, or otherwise.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH The FOP DOES NOT OWN THAT LOT. The city owned that lot and just recently sold it to the Glass works.
