And if you don't think that offiers are allowed to resign without being indicted, maybe you are lucky and are a one of the good guys. It happens. No, I won't name names. There are lots of reasons that it happens. You don't have to like it. A mentioned officer was allowed to resign to avoid being indicted for official misconduct for having sex with a DV victim last fall (on-duty). Simple as that. No public trial for the department. Or a LT. recently leaving for stealing time. A detective years ago who was giving NCIC background checks to badguys who were checking out their competition. He was told to retire or the FBI would come after him. So yeah, it happens. Ever read the discipline reports when it says a case was closed due to an officer resigning.
