You are right my friend. No one has ever been offered to resign to avoid an indictment. That would be a miscarriage of justice. However, sometimes officers who plead guilty to certain crimes (especially where abuse of power was used) are, as a condition of the plea deal, ordered to not apply for employment with any police agency in the state. Imagine the public outcry if somebody was able to wash away a FELONY just by resigning from their job. Sounds too much like a cover up and the courts wont
