Perhaps this is all about words. I think you are both correct. I don’t believe anyone has ever been allowed to resign from the dept to avoid a grand jury indictment. However, to be indicted one must first be charged with a crime. I DO think that officers have been allowed to resign to avoid being charged. Perhaps the case was weak at best but the officer didn’t want to take a chance being indicted, for example. See, now we can all get along and all be correct at the same time. Everyone wins.
