Louisville Metro Police car crashes into house |
RE: Louisville Metro Police car crashes into house
Not too long ago I saw a video recorded by John Boel that showed street corner drug dealing (along with gun exchanges) going on all day long. That’s just what one reporter with one camera could document. It goes on all over the place. I do think that these dealers should be the target of flex platoons, which used to be the case. It’s hard to use flex to combat street corner dealing when they are constantly assigned to work details or are used for other purposes such as to combat burglaries, etc. We very much need a narcotics unit; we just need them to work major cases that target the big time dealers. This doesn’t look pretty on paper though and doesn’t produce FI cards so the dept chooses not to do it.
I agree that some use specialty units to escape the beat, but not all. We just need to find those officers that have an interest and are truly dedicated to the specialty they wish to work.
I’ve never been in the Narcotics unit and I don’t work on a flex platoon (somebody would ask).
