Visitation Underway For Slain Lexington Police Officer

Visitation has begun at Southland Christian Church in northern Jessamine County for a Lexington Police officer who died late Wednesday night after being hit by a hit and run driver while on duty near downtown Lexington.

Visitation began at 3 p.m. and will continue to 8 p.m. for Officer Bryan J. Durman, 27. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at noon, there will be an official procession to the gravesite at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens from Southland Christian Church.

This procession will have a very significant traffic impact. More than 100 traffic intersections along the route will be blocked off during the time of the procession.

The route is as follows:

1. Beginning at Southland Christian Church turn North onto Harrodsburg Road (U.S. 68)

2. Continue on Harrodsburg Road heading north, and then make a Right onto Man O'War Boulevard.

3. Follow Man O' War Boulevard to Richmond Road, Turn left onto Richmond Road.

4. Continue on Richmond Road, Richmond Road becomes Main St.

5. Follow Main Street to Broadway, turn Left onto Broadway.

6. Continue on Broadway, Broadway becomes Harrodsburg Road.

7. Continue on Harrodsburg Road back into Jessamine County arriving cemetery on right.

People who wish to line the route of the procession to honor Officer Durman are encouraged to park at the old Lexington Mall parking lot on Richmond Road.
