A big win for the Firefighters?

PHOTO

I would like to first congratulate my Brothers and Sisters who are Firefighters. It was a long hard battle and you are finally going to get paid for services rendered that Jerry Abramson refused to acknowledge which ultimately got us to this point.

We have reported here that it could have been resolved years ago for a fraction of what it will be settled for, but because of the arrogant and litigious nature of the man the taxpayers of Louisville will be paying for something that Abramson caused, Abramson ignored and Abramson drug through the court system for years, (enriching a private Law firm retained by the city) to face the ultimate common sense solution that yes the City screwed up and should have fixed this.

Not only did Abramson not fix it (until this year in the Legislature) he continued to deny clear cut evidence that he was wrong and moreover he could correct the issue and cut the City's liability by making it right.

I have read with interest all of the comments by the talking heads out of the Mayor's Office. I notice everyone but Jer seems to be speaking about this. My thoughts on the issued have been percolating for a couple of weeks now. Now that Jerry is a Lame Duck he can either put it to us really hard or go out with some shred of dignity.

Last month Metro Government announced that they will not do furloughs again this fiscal year. The claimed they saved enough to offset the furlough days. That was our first clue.

That got me thinking that he is in for the biggest campaign of his life. He is leaving his safe zone and running with Governor Brashear as Lt. Governor. He will no longer haves his hordes of liberal minions to easily carry him into office. Mayor for Life means nothing out in the State.

What I believe is that the Governor told him to get his house in order. If you would have told me 2 months ago that Abramson wouldn't leave this mess for his successor I would have assumed you were off your meds and insisted you go and receive treatment for your delusions.

I think the Governor and Abramson are both smart enough to realize that the upcoming election isn't going to be a cake walk. In order for them to enter the upcoming campaign season (closely akin to the cold and flu season and both of which tend to nauseate us), the have to make sure their credibility is shored up and that they enter this race without all these skeletons lurking in closets.

We haven't heard from Jerry on this issue. Truly what can he say? I am sorry is not in his vocabulary so don't wait on it. I was wrong is another phrase that won't escape his lips. It would be nice for him to man up and say those things though. The voters would be more likely to go his way if he would admit that he was wrong.

I would again like to congratulate my Brothers and Sisters who drive the big red trucks. You earned it and you deserve it.

Now I want my money that he illegally took from me by charging me for my take home car. I calculate that it is around $1,410 plus interest.

Do you want us to sue over this Jerry? Do you really want all that negativity on the eve of your upcoming race? Has the Governor already told you to set things right? I hope he has, because I don't think the taxpayers of this community can stomach another of your multi-year, multi- million dollar fiascos. Now is the time, just like it was back in the mid-90's to take care of the problem before it gets even worse.

Am I right? We will see about it soon enough.
