Former Louisville assistant police chief Terry Winstead-Wilfong, has been chosen as the new police chief of Greenville, South Carolina. She will begin her duties there March 31st.

Winstead-Wilfong abruptly left LMPD in December of last year prompting widespread speculation and rumors of conflict within the Chief's office.

The Greenville government web site released the following statement:

"City Manager Jim Bourey, today, introduced the City's new police chief. Terri Wilfong is the City's first woman chief. She hails from Louisville, Kentucky where she served as an Assistant Chief with the Louisville Metropolitan Police.

Bourey considered input from citizens, Greenville police officers and public officials who met with the five final candidates, before Bourey deciding to hire Wilfong. Wilfong says she was instrumental in developing crime prevention/reduction initiatives to improve quality of life for people in Louisville. She headed police operations for the Kentucky Derby, the Breeder's Cup, Thunder over Louisville and other events."
