Jeffersontown Police Officer Involved Shooting

Jeffersontown police were involved in a shooting Thursday night that sent one person to the hospital.

Police said the suspect, 23-year-old Robert Foster, was transported to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. behind Shady Acres Lane, near Billtown Road and Charlie Vettiner Park.

The last time Jeffersontown police were involved in a shooting was September 1995 when an officer was shot and seriously injured by a suspect. In that incident, Officer John Gregg returned fire, killing the suspect. The officer involved in that shooting recovered.

An investigation into Thursday night's shooting is still ongoing.
