A Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy was attacked yesterday in 900 block of south Shelby Street. The deputy was on duty at the time.
At 1340 hrs Deputy O'Nan was at 908 South Shelby Street when black male in his early to mid 20's, wearing a gray jacket and gray toboggan attacked the Deputy from behind and took the Deputy's service weapon.
The suspect then entered a hunter green, early 90's model Monte Carlo or Lumina driven by an unidentified male. The vehicle fled south in a nearby alley.
The Deputy's Weapon is a 40 caliber Glock 35 with the serial number JC122SO. The weapon is engraved with the Jefferson County Sheriff patch on the top slide.
