Website on the Move

Fop Lodge # 614 would like to invite you to visit our website and become a member. In June 2003 President David James authorized the construction of a web site for Kentucky's Largest FOP. We chose Officer Chris Ansman as our website administrator. Chris along with Officer Mark Wampler and Officer Paul Schweizer created the site and continually monitor and upgrade it.

Our site is a very unique site that has gained national and international recognition. It is more than just a website, it is a web portal. We have lots of features: public forums, private forums, live chat rooms, an online store, an auction site, a classified section, a streaming audio player, a streaming video player, an awesome online arcade with 85 games you can play! The site also has some 35 incredible downloads in 15 different categories for you absolutely free! There are also over 50 web links for you to help cruise the net. You will also find many other feature including Local, State, National and International Law Enforcement News.

Our main goal is to inform our members and at the same time provide them with a fun, feature packed site that not only will they come to, but more importantly come back to.

All of the aforementioned features are there through a lot of hard work and commitment to making and keeping our website one of the best in the nation.

When I mentioned the national and international recognition, I want you to check out the site statistics link when you visit the site. You will see the thousands of page views every hour; you will see that we have visitors and members from many countries abroad.

Our web site administrator Chris Ansman was recently put in charge of all FOP websites by the OPEN DIRECTORY PROJECT. The ODP is a consortium that monitors and ranks all websites. Chris? job will be to monitor each FOP website and validate their submissions on how they appear when you use a search engine. Google and other search engines are working on restructuring how a site appears. Currently they longer a site has been in existence the better chance it has of being ranked high up on the chart. They also do not take into account static HTML driven websites vs. data base driven sites like ours. So that means if you have a simple web page that has been there for awhile and features nothing more than a pop-up of Homer Simpson and a brief article about you or your organization it can actually outrank a quality designed multiple feature site. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but that is why ODP is working to change things for the better.

We will continue to have a great site for you to come to and enjoy. Make sure the next time you are online you stop by for a visit.
