A gunman accused of shooting a Louisville Metro Police officer in the chest is now sitting in a Florida jail cell, nabbed Thursday afternoon at his sister's apartment.

Jacquan Lamont Crowley, 22, didn't put up a fight when surrounded by federal police and an investigator with the Volusia County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office just before 4 p.m., said Gary Davidson, a sheriff's office spokesman.

The U.S. Marshals Service had received a tip that the Louisville suspect could be in the area. They teamed with a sheriff's investigator to watch the sister's place at Sunrise Pointe Apartments in Port Orange until they spotted Crowley leaving and moved in to arrest him, Davidson said.

Volusia County is located about an hours drive northeast of Orlando.

Crowley is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach pending extradition back to Kentucky, according to an email from Davidson.

LMPD investigators are still gathering information about the arrest and anticipate releasing more details Friday, according to an email to reporters.

Local investigators believe the suspect intended to kill Officer Kyle Carroll during a foot chase Saturday night, when a bullet penetrated a bullet-resistant vest worn by Carroll and entered his chest near his badge, police said. He was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, where doctors removed the bullet. He is back home recovering.

Police have obtained a warrant charging Crowley, also known as "Yung Dummy," with attempted murder of a police officer. Crowley also faces charges in "a host of outstanding active warrants," according to a news release.
