The Louisville Metro Police Department honored the men and women who serve Louisville at their annual awards dinner. Held in The Galt House Grand Ballroom on Saturday, the awards ceremony honored retired and current sworn officers, civilian employees, and exceptional members of the community.

The ceremony was hosted by Mayor Greg Fischer and LMPD Chief Steve Conrad. More than 100 people were honored for their accomplishments with the LMPD.

Among those honored was Detective Cole Gibson, who was off duty when a neighbor notified him of a hostile situation with two subjects being assaulted by a man with a hatchet. Det. Gibson gave chase and apprehended the man before he drove away. He was awarded a Medal of Honor for his bravery and for going above and beyond the call of duty.

This was the 12th year the awards ceremony was held.
