The Hillview Police Chief is facing charges, accused of moving a meth lab to protect an elected official and lying about it.
A grand jury indicted Glenn Caple on charges of making false statements this afternoon. It comes after an FBI investigation. The indictment shows the police chief helped move a suspected mobile meth lab in a backpack from the official's property to a location behind a fence away from the property.
The indictment does not specify who the elected official is, but it does state that this incident happened in January 2012. That's about three months after a meth lab was discovered in Hillview Mayor James Eadens' backyard.
Eadens' son Jason Eadens was arrested for manufacturing meth and drug possession in that incident in October 2011.
At the time, the mayor told WDRB of his son, "He got into this on his own. He needs to get out of it on his own."
Eadens said, "I want him to know that the consequences for his actions are going to be strong, that I hope he gets a good taste of reality and he changes his life."
Mayor Eadens also told WDRB the arrest came as a total shock to the family. But some neighbors said they smelled chemicals coming from that area before.
Louisville Attorney Tom Clay is representing Caple. He says he will defend his client and will not comment on the case right now.
