WOW when I was hired in 1991 the community was saying the police were racially profiling. Some complaints never change....I have a suggestion stop commiting crimes.

I didnt think we ever stopped filling out the racial profiling forms.....The numbers should be easy to find.. How does the Chief not know we fill out these forms?

This is such a waste of time and money. There other pressing issues that are way more important. Let's face the facts, if you work in the 2nd and make a traffic stop, it is more than likely going to be a black person because it is a black neighbors. It is not profiling, it all depends on where you work. Yes, black people do make up a large portion of the arrest in Louisville. It is not because officers are racist. It is because officers are doing their job which is to catch criminals and most of them just happen to be black. The police are not targeting blacks, we are simply targeting criminals. Also, more than half of the homicides committed in the city are committed by blacks against other blacks. Let's face it, there is a problem in the black community and they are using the police as a scapegoat.

Article states "22.9 % black" however-40% of our upper command is minorities! Put the 55 toward a raise, we are long over due. I have heard both the chief and mayor say " revenue for the city is on the way up" let's get on with the contract already!

Really? 55K for the Justice Adm @ UofL to conduct this survey!!! Who is the Lieutenant keeping up with all the vehicle stop forms. The Lieutenant is making 70K or more to keep up with all these stats, why are we going to pay UofL? Have the Lieutenant do his/her job and produce the stats.

This is a total waste of taxpayers money. Just to make some people happy. They proved their point in the West End with all the killings and shootings lately.

Put the 55K toward our pockets, we are not sitting behind a desk, barking out orders, we are the one's out in the field getting harassed for doing our JOB.

Guys & Gals, the more you do, the less you are appreciated. When will you ever open your eyes. If my Councilman votes to approve 55K for this study, they will not get my vote in the election. This is obviously throwing money away. They could hire another officer to put on the streets for that amount.

Does this mean that the people written up for not having turned in coleman cards will get an apology, because the chief just said that we haven't been doing them?

When we get done cutting the grass and cleaning out the houses of the riff raff down in the westend to show this community we care, the violence will stop or a certain major thinks so, CJ quote last week. We used to send a bunch of uniforms into a problem section and CLEAN it up without a broom, but I guess those days are gone. This CHIEF is going to change nothing or he already would have. It's the same ol snake just a different head. And if your waiting on a raise don't hold your breath because it probably won't come for a long time. I'm glad I'm getting ready to retire, and have worked with the best street officers in the US, but I can't say the same about LT'S and above because I don't have a chance to get to see somebody who is never around and if they are they stay hid. This dept is way too top heavy and needs to be fixed. Hope some of you young guys have a chance to help do it. "A GOLD badge doesn't earn respect the one wearing it has to earn it."

I'm over it already. We Do Not have to prove anyting to anyone. If they want to spend 55,000 in the West End for Education- then i'm all for it, but dont waste it on a B.S survey. Wonder how the Chief would look if the Officer's just shut down for a few weeks!!!! So much for the Safest City In America, which he stated was his goal. We are our own worse enemy!!! He and his possee sit behind a desk, making decisions and they are not out on the streets. How can you make a decision by viewing crime maps? Really!!!! I'm really not impressed thus far!!!!

Very interesting that SPI or someone working for SPI receives a benefit after a new chief is selected. When Bob White was selected Phil Turner from SPI becomes Asst. Chief. Now Cindy Shain is involved in selecting her great friend Conrad and a $55,000 survey kickback comes her way.

Don't know why folks are wanting LTs and SGTs making runs. I am thrilled that I work for COs that leave me alone and let me take care of business! I agree that we are WAAAAAY too top heavy, but be careful what you wish for.....

Calling off on "business checks" has got to be one of the most useless and phony excuses for police work. Can someone please tell me why it is necessary to call off on a business check? To me, this concept was thought up by someone who reasoned patrol officers are basically doing nothing in their down time and calling off on a business checks kind of creates the illusion that something productive is being done. I rode a beat for many years and checking on businesses was done naturally. You never ride past a business without doing a cursory look anyway to make sure everthing is OK. Whenever I hear someone calling off on a business check, it sounds so dishonest and CYA.

Wow, I saw the Lieutenants list today. I was surprised to not see Kenny Betts name not on the list! He sneaked his way into taking the Sergeants exam while he was not qualified, So needless to say I was shocked he didnt sneak his way on the Lieutenants list.

Enough on Betts! Anyone heard about Carolyn Nunn staying at the Chief's Office trying to become a Major? She is trying to get sex crimes, homicide, CACU, CSU, CAS under one unit and one Major to run it. She is trying to become a Major by making herself a position just as she did the Domestic Violence Lieutenant position. Imagine Nunn as a Major. She got in trouble for cheating on her Vacation time while in the Fourth District, and nothing happened to her. Once a thief, always a thief.

Bob at it again.

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Police Chief Robert White announced sweeping changes Thursday saying the moves are “About preventing crime for the people we serve.”

In a three page letter distributed to all DPD employees and obtained by CBS4, White announced some officers will be replaced by civilians and that an undetermined number of Detectives, Technicians and Corporals will have to reapply for their jobs.

“This is about preventing crime and moving resources to patrol,” reads the letter. “Simply put, this is the right thing to do.”

It’s likely hundreds of officers will have to reapply for their positions or face demotion.

“These are appointed positions and we will fill them with the best employees,” wrote White.

Lt. Matt Murray, an aide to Chief White, told CBS4 a plan will be released at a later date specifying how many officers will have to reapply for their positions.

One current detective, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the letter is being met with widespread anger. He said officers plan to band together and refuse to reapply, en masse.

“I’m not reapplying,” said the veteran detective. “It’s a slap in the face.”

Lt Murray indicated the positions will be filled, one way or the other.

“Any officer is welcome to apply or choose not to,” said Murray.

raciel profileing

July 20th, 2012 @ 4:29PM (12 years ago)

it's nots so much raciel profiling as it is just juding a book by his cover me and a friend where standing on a street corner in new albany and a cop walked up and said we had gotten a call about loitering in this area nowing we had been there all day and the cop searched us with no probable cause then on top of tht my friend had a roach in his cig pack and ended up going to jail for possesion not only did the cop not have a right to search us he also said to my friend ill take you around the corner and drop you off if you give me a name. he did three days in jail for getting searched with no probable cause its not about race it's about how your dress or act because yes we did look like we where some gangbangers or watever you want to call it but at the same time not everyone commits crimes if the do drugs or stupid **** for that matter the only reason y marijuana is illegal is because in the early 1900's a congress man didnt like it so he made it illegal on guy decided the fate of a plant that he thought was bad on top of that the united states spent 750,000 dollars on maijuana possesion charges alone last year for people that get arrested for about three days then they get out and do it all over again it's stupid **** like that is y we lose money

In a time when we have all this technology at our disposal I can't for the life of me understand why we are so half-ass backwards in our approach to this subject! This past week-end my wifes car was pretty much destroyed by what had to be a drunk or drug induced idiot whom somehow was able to drive off from the scene of the accident! Their vehicle had to acquire quite a bit of damage- compared to what it did to our Explorer! From what my wife and a neighbor saw it was a silver Chevy SUV- I have parts of their vehicle to substantiate this! This is the second such incident that has occurred at my residence because my truck was done the same way just a couple of years back! My "SUGGESTION" would be to use the computer system, that I know most Police departments have,to notify most of the body shops in the surrounding Jefferson county area to be on the lookout for said vehicle especially when you have a good idea what damage had to be done an that the victims paint from their wrecked vehicle has to be all over the front of perps vehicle! Most of the bodyshops that are legit will have a computer set-up so as to look up parts for their repairs!
