This whole business of blocking off streets for an injured officer is a great thing, but to do it at 2am when there is virtually no traffic is a vulgar display of arrogance. If it is not done with more common sense, I guarantee the practice will be abolished. And before somebody responds with saying I'm anti this or anti that, you are wrong. I just know bad judgment when I see it.

I will shut down an intersection ANYTIME a seriously injured person is in an ambulance, whether it is for a police officer or citizen. Find something else to whine about.

First off, let me say that I am so very happy that both of these outstanding officers will recover.

Secondly, I was listening to the scanner when the call came in. I was so impressed by the way you guys handled everything so quickly and efficiently and professionally. Heck, I was falling apart just listening.

As a tax-paying citizen, I commend you for blocking the streets to get your fellow officer the care he needed so quickly. I sincerely hope the need never arises again, but if if does, rest assured this is one civilian who will never complain.

Thank you for doing everything you do to protect this city... and me. I'm single and live alone. I listen to the scanner as I'm falling asleep at night. Knowing you guys are out there, a call away if I need you, makes me feel safe and helps me sleep at night.

I know you guys don't hear this enough but each of you are very treasured for the work you do.

Please wear your vests and stay safe.

the only complainers are the screaming liberals. even the welfarians know they need the Police.

(welfarians are not those that fell on hard times and needed a helping hand. WELFARIANS are those that choose to "make a career" out of abusing tax payers dollars.)

General legitimate question: Why doesn't LMPD have a requirement about the wearing of vests? Is this standard across police departments in metropolitan cities? I could see it being typical of more rural or small departments and workforces, but it surprises me here. I would understand non-field personnel not having the requirement, but considering the escalating gun violence against law enforcement in recent years, I don't see why any department, especially a large one in a large city, would not require "street" officers to wear them. Just wondering if anyone had insight about this.

A VOICE OF REASON

February 27th, 2012 @ 12:02AM (12 years ago)

One of the arrested protesters admits that the police handled the situation properly and were doing their jobs. Of course, WHAS won't show this guy or anyone being logical and reasonable about this on their coverage.

Blocking off Streets

February 27th, 2012 @ 1:30PM (12 years ago)

I am a citizen. I pay taxes. So I have the right to voice my opinion. Im not a thug and denounce those who are. First of all the suspects should have been removed from the scene in bodybags. They tried to shoot a man who showed up ready to handle any fear that me or any citizen in metro louisville had. He was shot protecting one of our fellow taxpayers. Why would we not block the street for him. The minute he put the uniform on, he gained hero status. He DESERVED to get the hospital fast. He DESERVED to be seen first. He runs into situtions that we run from. GOD bless you officer. Hope you recover well!!!
