Wonder if the Justice Resource Center is coming to his rescue. He probably was just getting ready to turn his life around. Oh I'm sorry he'll get life in prison. Thankful no officer was hurt in confrontation.

wow. Why this guy is still alive is a mystery to me. I'd like to hear the rest of the story.

Well, at least now he can turn his life over to the Lord and become a great Veterinarian!

AMEND TO D.C. CD 2YRS NO CONTACT WITH CW

Criminal History, Anyone?

December 6th, 2011 @ 6:21PM (12 years ago)

As Officers, we're never surprised when it's someone like this guy that nearly kills some of our own. I saw this article and even before doing a CourtNet search on him, already knew he was likely a felon many times over. Of course I won't release any of the information for "any public dissemination", but maybe if the media did a criminal history check or records request, they could provide the public some insight into what kind of criminals are walking the streets because of a horribly broken criminal "justice" system.

The last commenter wasn't being cute when he said "AMEND TO D.C. CD 2YRS NO CONTACT WITH CW". Criminals get locked up every single day on felonies and these same criminals are released within days and ROR (released on their own recognizance... with no bond, for the lay person). Once in court, (after the criminal is locked up once or twice on FTA [failure to appear] warrants), their charges are amended to misdemeanors, they pay a small fine (if they can afford it... sometimes they pay nothing), and they are essentially told "be good for 2 years or these charges will come back" (the prosecutors and the criminals both know even if they pick up new charges, the process will just begin again and it's unlikely they'll do any real time).

When will the public realize what is happening and how dangerous these people are that are walking around?

Charles Gazaway, Jessie Halladay, Jason Riley, Steve Tellier, the rest of you in the media sources, you have some power to make the streets safer by breaking this story to the public, exposing the broken system, and initiating change. Are you willing to step up and make Louisville safer? Or are you content with reporting the same news day after day and knowing that the crimes you report about could be prevented? What will it take? Will it take a Police Officer or member of your own family being killed by one of these "ROR" or "CD 2 years" criminals? Unfortunately for us all, someday it will happen. And when it does, after learning of the suspect's criminal history and knowing he/she shouldn't have even been out on the streets, you'll know you might have been able to help prevent it. As Officers, we try every day to put these people behind bars, but because of the system, we can only do so much. What are you doing?
