HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) - A merger between two northern Kentucky city police departments might be coming undone.
The Highland Heights City Council is expected to take up a plan this week that could result in splitting the Highland Heights Southgate Police Authority, according to The Kentucky Enquirer (http://bit.ly/rYbn6b ).
When the cities combined their police forces three years ago, the move was touted as a money saver and a way to create a larger department.
Steve Franzen, the Highland Heights city attorney, said the major force driving a move to dissolve the combined department is residents complaining they don't see as many police cars as they used to.
Southgate Mayor Jim Hamberg said no one has approached him about changing the agreement.
