Louisville settles police sexual-harassment case for $50,000 |
RE: Louisville settles police sexual-harassment case for $50,000
That is right, the county is dead. God bless the county.
I miss:
When we had an extremely strong, and united, FOP,
When rookies new they were rookies and wanted to learn,
regular pay raises,
a General Directives Manual (a SOP for you city kitties) that was simple and written in plain english,
a lack of "memos" on everthing,
a command staff we could trust (mostly) and who made runs with you,
a command staff who would back you up in the media,
when praise was in public and reprimands were in private,
when divisions were able to send people to training with the seized money, since 10% stayed in the seizing division,
when officers would pick up their brethren at local establishments and took them home so we stayed out of the medias eye.
I miss when we fired our problems, not hid the or promoted them,
and were otherwise allowed to do our job unmolested by politics.
At merger I was excited, I remember thinking of the potential we had to make the best department in the state, maybe the nation by taking the best of both departments. Instead we have settled for the mediocrity of this failed SPI experiment.
You go city types, you win.

The "city" didn't win. The city lost. The citizens lost. The "city officers" wanted to merge with the county. Why is that? If it was so great, if it was the best. Why? Because you did not have the best. You wanted what the county had, and guess what. You didn't keep anything the county had. You gave it all away, so now it's back to "the city".
Why city officers thought merger would change anything is beyond me, especially when they went and supported the big head. They knew supporting him would get the merger, and that is all they wanted.
The city officers wanted the merger to change the city department. Must have been bad. The county officers didn't want anything to do with the merger. Must have been good.

You are exactlty right. And thats why the dept. has gone to sh*^. City has screwed everything up. Command I should say. It reflects from the poor attitude and problems. Good going city.
