Well, it appears to me you have several options

1. Become a division traffic car, and get experience, so you can investigate these accidents.

2. Sign up for the HIGHWAY SAFETY money in most, if not all, divisions and write tickets (I am personally opposed to writing a citizen a ticket if it is not "needed" when a warning will do so I don't sign up the ot).

3. Sign up for small city overtime.

4. Suck it up and quit whining.

And no I am not, and have never been a traffic car. I have always preferred the "real" police work. If you are worried about where the money is going, then you should use you limited investigative skills and research the cost of our command structure. You should then look at senior level command types in positions that do not supervise a single officer.

They took away all of the highway safety money from Traffic and gave it to the divisions... Yet they have problems getting enough division officers to work it and had extra left over last year. Quit whining... If you want the money that bad then put in for traffic when they post vacancies later this year...

I'm just curious as well, but about a different matter. Did those who are making 30K or less know the salary when they signed up for this job? I suspect they knew how much they would be making and they got what the job offered when they accepted the position. Were they promised more and someone didn't deliver? It's always about money with cops. If you took the job to get rich, I recommend a different profession.
