Louisville man sues police over alleged beating last year

Filed a lawsuit to "find out what their version is". That is an open records request not a lawsuit. Lawyers file suits to make money and recover damages if any. Sounds to me like someone named in the suit should file a complaint with the Bar Association for telling a certain lawyer telling a fib.

..."illness that night and that at 5-feet-10 and 120 pounds, he was not a threat to the officers." I'm so tired of reading about how big or small somebody is. Manny Pacquiao is 5'6" 147, you won't catch me going toe-to-toe with him!!! Taser Taser!

Clay probably believes it'll be difficult for all 12 officers there to give consistent testimony for something that happened a few years prior. That combined with the picture of the guy's face after his arrest will be enough to convince a jury that excessive force was used. One of the witnesses told reporters the other officers were trying to block their view as he was being arrested. A little guy with a medical problem versus 12 officers who gets a busted up face presents a lot of risk for going to trial.

Why is it that only about 14 officers assigned to "traffic unit" have access to tens of thousands of dollars of overtime, but no one else is.....the average LMPD officer has made $30,000 or less this year......and one traffic officer is at $50,000 and it's only july4th. several traffic officers are already at in the mid to upper 40's.... Why are not more officers allowed to work DUI, speed enforcement overtime..... make no sense that six officer can each make between $25,000 and $40,000 in overtime each year whrn 90% of the officers are allowed be ZERO and crumbs....

Mr clay has a couple of things going for him.

1. he wins the majority of cases he files against the police department.

2. some of those named have past judgements against them. he can introduce prior bad acts.

3. PIU investigated the allegations and cleared all officers. the commander of PIU is dating one of the accused officers.

all that said, the officers involved and named in the suit did nothing wrong. hopefully the good guys will win this one and t pay will end up with a lot of unpaid billable hours.
