Social Security Fairness Act Introduced in the House

When my mom retired, some years back, she was shocked to learn that despite the fact SHE had worked her entire life (with the exception of two years) she wasn't entitled to draw what she earned and draw her widow's annuity from my dad's railroad pension. She had to choose between the two.

Vehicle usage tax: You work your arse off to buy a decent and reliable car for your family. You pay for the car and you pay for the sales tax to the state. Then you pay sales tax again to the county in which you reside. (part of licensing and tags - you have to pay a percentage of what the car is worth AGAIN to the county)

Property taxes: You work your arse off to buy a piece of land, then after it's paid for: you rent it from the government till you die.

Death taxes: After your arse is gone: you leave your meager piece of land to your children. They can't afford the 50% tax on the inflated total value and can't keep what you tried to give them.

They say that when you have children, you find yourself acting like your parents.

In that regard, we have become worse than the British.
