Fired Louisville Metro Police officer reinstated by chief |
RE: Fired Louisville Metro Police officer reinstated by chief
Well, since I have to read reports that officers create, it would be nice if a few of you guys would learn to spell, use appropriate punctuation and capitalization and write a coherent sentence. I've never believed you have to have a college degree to be a good cop, but these are basic grammar skills you should have before you get out of middle school. (Variations I've seen on khaki - cacky, kaki, cacci (that one took some puzzling out), etc. If you can't spell khaki, try TAN instead.) Remember, other people do read your paperwork and those folks, including a jury, will judge you by your ability to write a simple report. It is sad when I get so excited when I get a good report that I actually feel the need to compliment the officer on it - and I've done so on several occasions.
And yes, since I'm quite aware that I will get flamed for this criticism, it isn't just LMPD officers, it seems to be a problem with almost everyone under the age of 30 or so. I don't know if it is not being educated, or simply not caring about doing a decent report.
