Hmmm... Well at least he is willing to go and see what the job is all about, now if only he would merge the City & County Fire Departments, so that all these "little kings with their fiefdoms" would get a clue and disappear.

Got to the Police Department

Now if only he goes to the Police Department and actually rides with some of the Officers....works at least a week on one of the platoons and actually sees what working out there on the streets is like. Take Chief White with you as I know he doesn't know how. Then maybe he will get a first hand experience of what it is really like out here. Work under some of the command that you have let stay in command and see if you are alright with the stupid policies that are out there.

Get your facts together, Our new Mayor has rode with officers, he rode with one in the 4th on midwatch and rode with another in the 1st on midwatch. Our Mayor is doing a Great Job, he has already got a lot accomplished within the few months of taking office, imagine how much more he will get done for Louisville in the following years. And it wont surprise me if he dont ride along with some officers again soon. He is a hands on type of guy and wants to see what is going on out there for himself, instead of listening to others report to him.

Mayor,

From an officer who works in the 2nd, you are doing a good job so please keep up the great work. Know that the majority of those who post here are unhappy about the past years and not about you. Thank you for supporting all the men and women who work as first responders and please understand that the great majority believe in what you're doing.

Fired Metro Police officer reinstated by chief

A Louisville Metro Police officer fired for poor job performance last month has been reinstated by Police Chief Robert White.

Queen Deborah Ca'Mel was fired March 4 based on poor performance evaluations, according to police statements at the time. She was listed as a probationary officer, so no specific information about her performance was released.

But on March 18, Ca'Mel's termination was rescinded by White. However, the letter reinstating her says she will remain on paid administrative leave during an investigation by the department's Professional Standards Unit. That unit is charged with investigating violations of department policies and procedures.

No specific details of what she is accused of have been released, as the department does not comment on pending cases.

David Leightty, Ca'Mel's attorney, said Ca'Mel's probationary period had not been properly extended by the department, prompting an appeal to the police Merit Board over her termination. But the department rescinded the firing before the appeal could be advanced, Leightty said.

"She's very happy to be back to work," Leightty said, adding that he believes Ca'Mel will be cleared by all pending investigations and return to work as an officer.

I think it would be great to have the mayor come out with EMS and loved seeing that others agreed but I find it disappointing that the discussion turned into a finger pointing argument. The statements that EMS abuses police, police abuses EMS, etc. We are all in the same boat so lets just get along and get through our shifts. I personally have had only a hand full of negative experiences with the police and one example would be, "Respond code one to Hancock and Broadway for a man requesting to go to detox." I mean really? But really, something like that is EXTREMELY rare.

To those who hate the fly car system then you are in luck. Yes, it is stupid but was necessary as there was until recently an extreme lack of paramedics at LMEMS. For the first time in years we are seeing an abundance of paramedics and are able to staff our trucks pretty well. The fly car system is nearly done with only one operating at a time. The fly cars were not a response to the toddler shooting either. The fly cars are a part of something called a tiered system which is common across the US but has been recognized as a failure.

Okay, I'm off the soapbox but there is a lot of misinformation flying around and the more we know about each other, the better. Lets hope that the mayor comes to experience all city jobs as this would be beneficial and I think it's awesome he is doing it. In the mean time lets stick together because it will help us all not only on a daily basis but also in the long run.
