Very true. C'mon people,we're gonna have to face reality here. Economics are tough and they are trying to at least negotiate with us. Look at the states around us,WI is trying to abolish collective bargaining, OH is getting blasted for the "right to work" proposals ( which KY is by the way) and IN is following WI lead. If we dont at least compromise on some of these things WE will look like the bad guys here and validate everything being said about union members in the papers! WE will lose all support from the citizens and God help us if we lose collective gargaining. No one who is not working off-duty will be charged, and then it is based on oil prices,considering how much we make on off duty gigs, 1 tank of gas ( or 2) a month is not unreasonable. And before you start labeling me as a house cat or some such thing, I paid, didn't like it or the way they did it,but I made enough off duty to cover it. I know that the take home program was touted as a perk but it was Never in writing,and if it wasn't then they can take it away,regardless of how it would appear later.

When I came on, it was understood that the take home program was a swap out for not paying us OT for off duty assistance that we were required by policy to do,and they were required by Fed law to pay as we were hourly employees. Unfortunately,this is not then and neither is this economy......this isn't such a bad deal and might even open the doors for your upcoming contract negotiations on other isssues.....aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggghhhhh
