"Nothing excuses drinking and driving, but that being said, the girl had made it that far without having an accident which does not indicate a complete lack of ability to drive."

That can be said for every drunk, no matter how far they get. 'Well, he could drive pretty good until he killed the old couple in the truck.' Drunks can make it home....sometimes. Drunks can kill...sometimes. Don't make excuses.
